How to Use the Clean Truck Check Login (CTC-VIS)
CTC-VIS is CARB’s online system for Clean Truck Check. It’s where you report your trucks, pay the annual compliance fee, see your testing deadlines and view your test results. According to CARB’s CTC-VIS Online User Guide, returning users sign in like this:

Open cleantruckcheck.arb.ca.gov and click “Log In.”Enter your username and password
Your username is the full email address you registered with.Open your Vehicles table
Go to “My Entity/My Info” and open the “Vehicles” table to see each truck, its deadlines and its status.Tip: CARB occasionally takes the site down for maintenance. If you see a maintenance notice instead of the login screen, wait a little and try again.
Forgot your Clean Truck Check password?
Click “Forgot password?” on the login screen to reset it. If you get an error, CARB says to email hdim@arb.ca.gov with the email address on your account. For general Clean Truck Check questions, CARB’s FAQ also lists the hotline (866) 634-3735.
Don’t have a CTC-VIS account yet?
Click “Register,” enter an email you can access, fill in your entity information and entity type, certify and submit. CARB then sends an activation email from “CARB Admin” so you can set your password. Our step-by-step CTC-VIS sign-up guide walks through every screen.
We set up and manage CTC-VIS accounts for owner-operators and fleets: registration, adding trucks, paying the annual fee and pulling your compliance certificate after your test.
Is My Truck Clean Truck Check Compliant?
CARB’s Clean Truck Check FAQ says compliance has three parts: your truck is reported in CTC-VIS, the annual compliance fee is paid, and it has passed any emissions test that’s due. Once all three are done, a compliance certificate becomes available to download from your “Vehicles” table. The certificate shows the VIN, vehicle location, fuel type and compliance status.
You’re likely compliant if…
Your truck is listed, the fee shows paid, no test deadline has passed and you can download a current compliance certificate.
You likely need action if…
A test deadline is coming up or past, the fee is unpaid, or there’s no certificate to download for that VIN.
Based on CARB’s Clean Truck Check FAQ. Always confirm due dates in your own CTC-VIS account.
Do I Need a Clean Truck Check Test?
CARB tells owners to “always refer to your CTC-VIS account for your due dates.” Most heavy-duty trucks test twice a year today, and starting October 2027, OBD-equipped trucks test four times a year. Passing results can be submitted up to 90 days before a deadline, so testing early is the easiest way to stay ahead. See what quarterly testing means for you.
Testing has to be done by a CARB-credentialed tester using a certified testing device. That’s us: American Trucking Compliance is CARB credentialed and fully mobile across Southern California and the Las Vegas valley.
$110 in Southern California · $100 in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas · free pre-check · one free retest · no trip fee.
How to Get a Clean Truck Check 5-Day Pass
If your out-of-state truck only operates in California for a short time, CARB offers a 5-day pass. Here’s what CARB’s FAQ says about it:
- It’s for vehicles that operate in California for short periods.
- You can use it once per calendar year for each vehicle.
- You must submit the request 7 business days before entering California.
- You’ll need the request date, owner name, address, phone and email, the VIN, the license plate and state of registration, and your intended travel dates and routing.
CARB also posted a video tutorial on requesting the 5-day pass. If you’re running into California more than once a year, a full Clean Truck Check is usually the simpler route. Hauling for Amazon Relay? Read our Amazon Relay CARB compliance guide first.
