Why Nevada Truckers Need a Las Vegas Clean Truck Check
Many Nevada owner-operators assume California emissions rules stop at the state line. However, CARB’s program follows the truck, not the plate. As a result, one missed test can cost you a California load.
Nevada plates aren’t exempt
Clean Truck Check applies to non-gasoline heavy-duty trucks over 14,000 lbs GVWR that operate in California, no matter which state they’re registered in. If you run the I-15 into California, it applies to you.
Test deadlines are doubling
Most heavy-duty trucks test twice a year today. However, starting October 2027, CARB requires OBD-equipped trucks to test four times a year, so the next deadline always comes around fast.
Turned away at the port
According to CARB, non-compliant vehicles may be denied entry to ports and railyards. As a result, a paperwork problem quickly turns into a lost load.
A deactivated USDOT number
FMCSA says a missed MCS-150 biennial update will deactivate your USDOT number and may bring civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, up to $10,000.
